About Deda

Our story

“Deda” means “mother” in Georgian. It is the name we gave a restaurant built on warmth, generosity, and the Georgian family table.

The name

Why “Deda”

In Georgia, the mother sets the tone of the home: the table is always full, and a guest is a gift. Deda brings that spirit to Pasadena.

Deda was born in 2025 from a shared dream of three Georgian families—Gomiashvili, Natsvlishvili, and Mdinaradze—to bring the rich flavors, traditions, and warmth of Georgian hospitality to Southern California. United by their love for their homeland and a passion for sharing its culinary heritage, the founding families set out to create a place where food brings people together and every guest feels like family.

During the development of Deda, the Salia family joined the journey. Together, the four families brought Deda to life in the heart of Pasadena.

The kitchen

From our kitchen

Chef Nana and Chef Eteri are responsible for the recipes and the preparation of the food that comes out of our kitchen.

Everything is made to order and never frozen. Khinkali are folded by hand, khachapuri are baked to order, and mtsvadi are cooked over flame.

Tradition

The Georgian table

A traditional Georgian feast is called a supra. Dishes arrive together and are shared, wine flows, and a toastmaster, the tamada, leads the toasts. We set our tables with that spirit in mind, whether you are here for a quiet dinner for two or a celebration for twenty.
